The newest addition to the Nobelus flex pack portfolio, the Foundations Collection includes a range of pre-laminations designed to increase efficiency and packaging quality for thermal flex pack converters.  

StrataFlex™ Thermal Pre-Lams are METPET structures that include a thermally activated EVA adhesive as well as a PE sealant layer. In a similar vein, EcoElement™ PE Thermal Sealants are made entirely of PE but are still compatible with thermal lamination due to their heat-activated PE adhesive layer. Because they are made of PE, they can be used to downgauge packaging or even create recyclable thermal packaging.          

Rather than surface printing on the pre-lam, converters using these structures must reverse print on an adhesive-free print web and then thermally laminate the layers together. This process drastically increases efficiency for digital flexible packaging by reducing changeovers and increasing capacity.  

Because these films include no adhesive layer, they are compatible with both surface and reverse printing. This makes them ideal for conventional packaging made with solventless, solvent-based, or water-based lamination while still being able to serve as a protective outer layer for digital flexible packaging that uses thermal pre-lams.  

Nobelus films designed specifically for flexible packaging range from essential gloss and matte OPP (with versions available for lap seal packaging) to soft-touch PET. Converters who want to make packaging with specialty finishes can also make use of our other films, which include a gritty sandpaper finish, compostable cellulose options, and scratch-resistant film among other products. 

Converters who use traditional pre-lams will find a wide range of flex pack finishing options in the Nobelus thermal laminate product line. These laminates include an EVA adhesive layer and are ideal for digital flexible packaging that needs to be printed, laminated, and shipped with competitively short turnaround. From luxurious soft touch, elegant linen, and classy leather to a smudge-resistant finish and shimmering holographic pattern, this product range opens the door to truly endless possibilities for thermal converters.
