THE ULTIMATE ENCAPSULATION LAMINATING SYSTEM
For print service providers who specialize in double-sided lamination or encapsulation, finding a reliable, efficient thermal laminator can be a challenge. The accuracy, speed, and power required to produce flawless two-sided laminated sheets at high volumes can be found in only the highest quality systems. For this reason, Nobelus has launched our very own machine: the Orbis™ Dual 61 Laminating System. This multi-module system includes a feeder, laminator, and trimmer that work together seamlessly to produce the perfect encapsulated sheet every time. It accepts films up to 15 mil thick and is designed to our specifications to meet the needs of our customers.
Sheet Feeder
Featuring a premium Heidelberg feed head, the automated sheet feeder on the Orbis Dual 61 laminating system accepts B2 sheets and reaches speeds as high as 35 meters per minute. Its suction head picks up sheets with impressive accuracy to ensure each one feeds into the laminator in perfect orientation. It is also PLC controlled to ensure complete synchronization with the laminator as both units communicate with one another.
Thermal Laminator
The laminating unit in the Orbis Dual 61 encapsulation system provides a perfect balance of user-friendly features and customizable settings. Its top and bottom pneumatic film mandrels both swing out to provide operators with easy access during changeovers, and its oil-heated rollers maintain consistent temperatures within one degree Celsius. An extended cooling zone at the end of the laminating system utilizes two fan banks and a heat sink roller to sap heat out of the web after it is laminated so that it cures immediately for further processing.
While all these features help streamline the lamination process and facilitate operation, this unit is not intended for newcomers to lamination. The numerous micro-adjustment settings on the pneumatic power brake and rollers give experienced operators complete control over the laminator’s tension and pressure settings to account for different film winding and materials.
Trimmer/Sheeter
The final unit in this encapsulation laminating system, the Orbis Trimmer slots in perfectly behind the Orbis Dual 61 sheet feeder and laminator as an in-line trimmer/sheeter, but it is also available as a freestanding unit. Its guillotine blade offers incredibly accurate cuts even at speeds as high as 60 meters per minute, more than enough to accommodate the laminator’s maximum speed. It cleanly slices through any film type, including BOPP, nylon, and PET films, and is capable of sealed-edge, flush-trim, and negative cutting.
